Department of Functional Equations. University of Zielona Góra, Poland

Witold Jarczyk, born in 1955 in Katowice, Poland, received his Ph. D. and habilitation degrees from the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Silesia in Katowice in 1983 and 1993, respectively.  He became a full professor in 2010.  For many years he was associated with the University of Silesia and then with academic institutions in Zielona Góra.  At present Professor Jarczyk has two positions: at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and the University of Zielona Góra.

His main research interests are functional equations, iteration theory, convex functions and theory of means.  He is an author of 70 papers, 4 of them are survey articles.  13 his papers have been awarded in the Kuczma’s competition for the best Polish paper on functional equations and related topics.  6 of young mathematicians are his students: Grzegorz Guzik, Tomasz Powierża, Grażyna Łydzińska, Barbara Przebieracz, Wenmeng Zhang and Marcin Balcerowski.
